Ozark Trail 40 F Rectangular Sleeping Bag

I could have gotten better quality from a teenager’s home ec project and lighter weight. I notice this isn’t the first review with this complaint. The zipper broke on my warm weather bag on the second night out. Too bad too because overall I’ve had good luck with Ozark Trail stuff. Too bad the buyer at Walmart has gone to sleep on quality control on this product.

The bag uses Climatech fill, a down alternative, making it very light. The roomy bag, 33 inches wide by 75 inches long, rolls up to a compact 14 by 8 inches. Made with soft polyester, the outer layer being a diamond ripstop material, the bag is both comfortable and durable. The zippers are sturdy, with no problems in the two years we have used them. A lightweight sleeping bag that offers extra length and extra warmth. This is a great summer sleeping bag that is lightweight and easy to carry.

Trailspace’s community of gear reviewers has field-tested and rated the top warm weather synthetic sleeping bags. I used this bag from February of 2002 to June of 2002 on the Appalachian Trail, and I still have it. The Ozark Trail Sleeping Bags first night out it was less than 14 degrees F, and I had at least 50 nights under 40 degrees F. I can’t say I was warm, but I wasn’t shivering, freezing, or cold either, although I did wear 2 layers of clothing.

The Ozark Trail 40F cool weather sleeping bag features a durable, easy-to-clean polyester diamond ripstop shell and has a soft breathable liner. For easy convenience, the dual zippers allow you to fold down the top cover on both sides and easily snap into place. This extra-large sleeping bag measures 36 inches wide by 80 inches long and is recommended for people six feet tall and above.

I won’t ever buy an expensive sleeping bag after carrying this cheapo, unless I can find a cheap bag that weighs a lot less. I purchased this sleeping bag for warm weather camping trips at the local lake. For fifteen dollars I wasn’t expecting (or needing) anything that would stand up to freezing weather. Unfortunately the workmanship was more than a little upsetting, even for that price. The Ozark Trail 40 Sleeping bag is not only a great looking bag, but offers warmth and comfort on a cool summer’s night. Also great for overnight guests, slumber parties or opening it up to use as a blanket or comforter.

Ozark Trail Sleeping Bags

The bag, by itself, is not very warm at that temperature. We layer a blanket between the sleeping pads and the sleeping bags for some extra insulation. When it is very cold I also use a comforter over the sleeping bags. We wear warm clothes to sleep in, including a beanie. Hand warmers in our socks and body warmers in our shirts are helpful as well. Our sleeping bags zip together, allowing us to take advantage of the shared body heat.

The rectangular shape provides more legroom so you can sleep comfortably and roll from side to side. For even more space or to make it into a two-person Ozark Trail Canopies bag, zip two bags together to double the size. With the return of the colder weather, it is time to pull out our winter sleeping bags.

This is only a 30-degree sleeping bag and may get cold on late fall or winter camping trips. Not only is it harsh to Ozark Trail Canopies the touch, but noisy too. And every time you move your feet you get to hear the crinkle of the fabric on the bottom.
