I docked one star from the Q 100’s portability because of its odd shape which made it difficult to pack around in a vehicle. I really like all of the Weber Q grills, and the Weber Q 100 is certainly not a bad choice. The entire line has received more positive reviews compared to negative than any other line of grills, which tells you just how happy the majority of owners are. Even many of those who have minor complaints about the grill often also state that they are being overly picky. While I didn’t have one single issue, I have read a few complaints regarding regulator failure.

After a quick read through of the manual, even first timers shouldn’t have too much trouble figuring how it works. While it doesn’t mean that ribs and similar foods are of the table, it can make it trickier to cook them. After all, grilling on a lower temperature doesn’t have nearly the same effect. You will have no problem getting up to 500 Fahrenheit degrees, something that you can expect with larger grills. Thus, you can easily tackle all kinds of meat and can even give searing a try. But even understanding the reasons behind the weight does not benefit this grill’s portability.

Using the larger and more economical refillable propane tanks is possible with the addition of an adapter hose, sold separately. The Q2200 is larger and has all the fantastic features of the Q 1000 and Q 1200 but comes factory fitted with the hose and regulator for a large gas bottle instead of gas canisters. Still able to be put in the back of a car and taken on a picnic but big enough to feed a small crowd. Keeping coals lit in the Weber Smokey Joe Charcoal Grill 14″ was a challenge. This smaller Weber kettle comes equipped with only one vent, located in the lid. The lack of airflow meant we couldn’t keep the coal bed lit throughout a single cook, leaving us with pale burgers and undercooked chicken.

Like all Weber products we’ve tested, the popularity of the brand is backed by quality service and sales, with replacement parts being widely available. But considering the quality of their products, you can expect a long and happy culinary relationship with this grill. They also offer two models with 285 square inches of cooking space and 20,000 BTUs, the X-Cursion and the 285. The 285 also has two side tables, while the X-Cursion only has one. The cast iron grill grate itself is designed to cover the areas right above the burner, so I also noticed very few flareups and no smoking. While the weber genesis 2 100 is quite small and reasonably light, this grill does have a bit of extra heft to it because of the cast iron grill grate.

I noticed no cold or hot spots when grilling up six 1 strip steaks. Otherwise, its small size is convenient for those of us who are confined to small balconies and patios, and works well for those who need a small grill to take on their RV trips. As for tailgate parties, this grill will cook up a bunch of burgers and hot dogs quickly, but grilling large numbers of steaks may take some time as you will run out of space quickly. The Q series presents a superb value alternative to the traditional style gas BBQs offered by Weber. This stylish range features portables, an electric grill and even full sized family grill, the Q3200. The above video on our WoW BBQ Youtube channel gives you a detailed weber genesis 2 Series comparison.

The Q series from Weber is versatile enough to cook just about anything you can think of. As with all Weber BBQs, you need to cook with the lid on for best results. Wirecutter is the product recommendation service from The New York Times.

Even though the Jumbo Joe isn’t the smallest or most compact charcoal grill we tested, it is lightweight (about 18 pounds) and easy to carry. A swiveling metal arm holds the grill together for transport and doubles as a lid holder while you’re grilling. The comfortable plastic handle allows you to lift the grill with one hand, while a heat shield keeps it cool to the touch during grilling. Naturally, the Weber Q 2200 is meant to be portable, so its small cooking space isn’t too surprising.

Once the grill cooled, I was able to easily pry off food and build up on the cooking grates. The porcelain coated cast iron grates made this a breeze to do. Like any gas grill, the Weber Q 2200 needs to be cleaned after each use, but it’s incredibly easy to do.

If you are looking for a temperature higher than this, though, you may find the weber genesis 2 2200 faltering. I also can’t imagine too many instances when you would need this kind of power, especially when grilling in small outdoor spaces. A whole chicken or even a small brisket shouldn’t be too much hard work on this grill. Thus, you do have a few more options for what you can cook with the Weber Q2200. And, when you compare it to other portable grills in its class, this is definitely the heftier option. Like a kid on Christmas, I couldn’t help but try out the Weber Q 2200 the day I got it.
