INTEX Prism Frame Above Ground Swimming Pools
If the pressure got too high, then we knew it is time to backwash the filter and clean out the sand. The filtration unit has six functions, including standard filtration, backwash, rinse, re-circulate, waste/drain, and closed. This versatility makes it easy to clean the pool, clean the sand, and drain the pool. There are a few areas where Intex missed the mark, though. It can pump to waste, which is useful for draining off some water if you’ve overfilled the pool.
All components, especially the hoses and filtration unit, should be stored inside where they will not freeze. But, if these consideration boxes are easily checked off in your situation, then I wouldn’t hesitate to add an Intex metal-frame pool to your summer plans. Requiring zero tools, we followed the instructions to snap the pieces together, twist in the two filter pieces, push in the drain plug, and in under 20-minutes we had ourselves an 11-foot pool. Just use the connector cap which came with your basic equipment to block off the filter connection. Push it into the opening in the filter connection on the inner side of the pool liner to block. This pool is equipped with a 2,100 Gph Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump that does an outstanding job at filtering the pool.
There are large drain plugs to drain the pool quickly. Disassembly of the frame is not too difficult, as all the pieces snap together and come apart quickly. Just make sure each piece is labeled so you can reassemble it with ease.
I do not believe either of these swimming pools will see the sixth year of use, but if you put a salt system on the steel wall pool, you may not see the third or fourth season. The traditional steel pools have slightly larger sand filters which will filter the water better, and an A-Frame ladder with more full treads and a lockable security feature to disable access to the pool. The sand filter does an outstanding job cleaning the bulk of the debris in the pool. The pool does not come with a maintenance kit so we had to purchase one for skimming and vacuuming. We chose the Intex Deluxe pool maintenance kit, which connects to the built-in filtration system. The kit also comes with a scrub brush to clean the sides and a skimmer to clean debris from the surface.
Priced at around $900, this model is at the high end for an Intex pool. It’s as close as you can get to a professional pool without paying professional-level prices. In fact, it’s so sturdy that when I noticed I had erected it with one of the legs a little bit angled, I couldn’t physically move it once the pool was filled. At first, I had no idea, but within a few weeks of use the pool did finally expand itself to the full 12-foot size. And if I’m being honest, he was almost correct intex frame pool when right out of the box it was clear that my brand-new, prized pool had a liner defect. But, after a quick trip to the store and another new pool, we were ready to try again and hope we had better luck. Please do not call the local store for online orders as they will just tell you to call the online order number.
Frame pools from Intex, such as the Intex Frame Ultra Quadra, are also available with many options to choose from. They are particularly popular with families because of their high stability and robustness. Soft-sided Intex Pools are considered non-permanent and as such are not required to pull a permit, whereas permanent intex baby float swimming pools do need a building permit. In the table below I compare an Intex Ultra-Frame pool to a traditional low-cost steel wall above-ground pool package you are likely to find at Leslie’s or your local pool dealer. The Intex Ultra Frame Pool Set surprised us with its quality construction and durability.
