Razor Hovertrax 2 0 Review: Hoverboard automatically levels itself
Founded in California in 2000, Razor became known almost overnight due to the success of its original A model aluminum frame compact scooter that proved to be enjoyable for children and adults alike. Just imagine that Razor sold over 35 million of them in its first decade. Over the years, Razor has expanded its lineup to create an update of the classic Big Wheel, electric powered scooters, electric razor hoverboards motor bikes, twist boards, pogo sticks, and more. Designed for fun-loving thrill seekers over the age of 8 and up to 80KG, the Razor Hovertrax Prizma hits speeds up to 14.5KM/H and provides up to 40 minutes of continuous fun on a single battery charge. With three colours and two modes to choose from (Training or Normal), the Hovertrax Prizma offers the highest level of safety and awesomeness.
You can choose between training and regular riding modes which can be helpful if a child constantly has friends over who want to try out the motorized vehicle. While the unit is lightweight, it can support riders between 44 and 132 pounds. With a 3-mile range per charge, we think the battery should last long enough to satisfy most kids’ attention spans.
The knee bar is used to maneuver left and right and is a tailored height for kids. Hoverboards can make kids feel like they’re flying—even if they don’t truly levitate above the ground. And they’re so easy to ride—you just lean to go and lean back to slow down or stop.
The SRX Mini won’t power up too many inclines and it doesn’t include lights or a Bluetooth speaker. Younger kids might not have a phone to play music from anyway and probably won’t be riding in the dark either. Lastly, we recorded the time it takes for the battery to recharge after being thoroughly exhausted.
We recommend you keep your knees slightly bent, almost like you’re about to catch a basketball, not quite as extreme. The Hovertrax 2.0 weighs 29 lbs and measures 24″ L x 8.75″ W x 8.25″ H. It’s powered by Dual 135-watt (cruising power), 350-watt (peak power) hub-driven motors. The motors use EverBalance auto-self-balancing technology and a gyro-sensor to keep itself level. “I’d like to see a world with no cars. I want to see more people using scooters, bicycles, Hovertrax to get around.” Regular and Pre-Order items cannot be purchased in the same transaction.
Automatically levels the Hovertrax for an easier mount and extremely smooth ride. To find the best electric hoverboard for you, check out our website or call our Razor customer service team today. If you plan to use this heavy-duty hoverboard for everyday activities in addition to sport, keep in mind that it weighs about 33 pounds.
Kids up to the 132-pound weight capacity should enjoy the advanced features. For heavier or older kids, there is another more expensive Segway model, which accommodates weights up to 200 pounds. More generally, however, hoverboards for any age fall into the same category as other vehicles like bikes, scooters and electric play cars—a helmet and protective pads are recommended. After all, hoverboard batteries catching fire was a big news story some years ago.
Hoverboards are just like skateboards, scooters, and bicycles when it comes to essential protective gear. That means wearing a high-quality helmet (look for ones with MIPS technology), along with elbow and knee guards. So it’s only fair the self-balancing two-wheeled scooters would show up in full force here at CES 2016, and Razor’s Hovertrax is among the most talked about models in the category.
It’s always a good thing to be aware of how much runtime you have left, especially when you have a group of kids waiting for their turn. Razor’s Hovertrax 2.0 is still one of the nicest looking hoverboards around hands down. It has a polished feel, elegant curves and also looks/feels much nicer than previous models.
