It boasts a compact design with ample cooking space — enough to grill up to 12 burgers at once. Sear meats on one side and veggies or appetizers on the other. Take advantage of the open-cart design to keep your weber spirit 2 equipment close at hand. We cooked a grillfull of pre-made one-third pound hamburgers on high with the lid down. They cooked fast at two minutes per side, although the front row needed an additional minute.
Everyone on the test day got a sample sausage and they all agreed that these were pretty much perfect. I’d blow my own trumpet but it was all the work of the grill. They had a gorgeous char on the outside but we succulent and tender on the inside, maintaining the right amount of moisture. Once we had all the parts ready to go, it was easy to assemble. The instructions are simple, and would’ve been improved with a little text, but they were effective.
Home chefs can use the wide, cast-iron cooking grates to prepare multiple courses simultaneously on the three stainless-steel burners while keeping their tongs and spices on the cooker’s two side tables. The grill’s folding left side table and the two wheels on its right legs also make it more than capable to move around a backyard. Aside from its superior cooking power, this grill has some wonderful features, which include a Bluetooth-enabled thermometer that will send alerts directly to your smartphone.
#7) Legs and Wheels – Another throwback feature is the wheel design. The left end of Spirit II series models do not feature wheels, while the right hand side have 2 large, heavy duty Blackstone Adventure plastic wheels. The wheels allow the grill to be rolled along grass or other uneven surfaces with ease. Take the guesswork out of cooking with Weber’s iGrill Digital Thermometers.
I placed each chicken on a small piece of foil in the center of the grill, directly over burner two (which, again, was turned off). For the ribs, I put a dry rub on a rack of pork ribs and let them cook on the warming rack on low heat. I used a probe to check the temperature after 3 hours and they were hovering close to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. The USDA suggests pork should be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees to be safe to eat. The Spirit II is similar to the $850 Weber Genesis II E-310.
Porcelain-enameled, cast-iron cooking grates retain even heat for the best tasting food. The porcelain-enamel coating is easy to clean and built to last. This generally means that the grill comes with a dedicated rotisserie burner the motor and spit are usually purchased separately. A dedicated rotisserie burner is usually located on the back of the firebox, slightly above the cooking grates some models use the grill’s main burner(s).
