The Hamilton Beach juicer doesn’t have quite as trendy of a design, but looks OK I think. This machine is somewhat easier to move because the various parts stay together a little bit better. There are several parts on juicers, and they do not necessarily fully interlock. This juicer also struggled with spinach, again having a lower than average yield, but this time producing about an inch of foam. The Big Mouth started this metric with a somewhat lackluster performance at juicing carrots, generating a less than average amount of juice with mild amounts of pulp. It did much better at juicing beets, actually earning one of the highest scores of the group. We received well above the average amount of juice with only mild amounts of pulp, though it created a decent amount of foam.
The Big Mouth started this metric with a solid performance at juicing cucumbers, tying for one of the higher scores. It generated an above-average juice yield, exceeding the average by about 15mL, and produced only mild amounts of foam, though there were moderate amounts of pulp. This juice also had moderate pulp and foam and separated relatively quickly. It is taller and wider than Hamilton Beach, requiring a bit more storage space. At the same time, the juice container is much larger, which is a plus if you do a lot of juicing in one sitting.
However, laying down a dishcloth under the machine did a lot to remedy this issue and the smaller footprint works in the juicer’s favor in terms of storage. Overall, we find this a very compelling option for both people on a budget and people who are new to the world of juicing. When comparing, using similar amounts of produce going through both machines, they produced the same amount of juice. If the Breville produced better (by teaspoons, maybe), it was not enough to justify spending the extra money based on this alone. The pulp from Breville was a tad bit dryer, didn’t stick to my fingers as much, which suggests more juice having been extracted from it. This ensures a sleek silhouette, but a slightly larger footprint of 14.50 x 10.75 x 7.75 inches; still, this should fit conveniently on any countertop. All plastic components come in transparent black, but the main body is available in either black or silver hues.
It produced juice with great texture, but the taste seemed slightly off compared to the other tested models. Our testers found it to be substantially less tasty than the beverages produced by some of the other, higher-quality juicers. Whether it’s an invigorating orange or nutrient-rich green, enjoying a fresh glass of homemade juice has never been easier. With its large chute and powerful motor, the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro Juicer makes quick work of fruits and vegetables with little prep time required. When pursuing a more affordable option, you expect to have to make concessions on performance or perhaps convenience. The simplicity of the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor ensures an intuitive and easy juicing experience. Stability can be a bit of a problem when the machine is first turned on, but the size of the juicer makes it easy to secure while still feeding produce into the chute. There is also only one processing speed, but we didn’t find this to be a problem, even when juicing kale. In addition to the main body, there are just four components and all four of these removable parts are dishwasher safe. Combined with the brush for use on the mesh strainer, there are no cleaning challenges; this is a juicer designer for daily use. The package does not include a juice collector, nor does it include additional components aside from a cleaning brush.
Our third drink for testing combined beetroot, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes, and oranges. The mixture produced by this juicer was delicious but had a slightly overpowering beet flavor. There was a decent amount of pulp, and the texture was somewhat watery, but the quality was still above average.
There’s more to clean with a larger container and an added lid, and foam can be removed using a spoon on models without a lid. Hamilton Beach’s juice container is much smaller, but you can also fit a drinking glass under the spout in place of the juice catcher. This cannot be done on Breville’s juicer since the juice comes spraying out and will make a mess unless the proper container is in place. hamilton beach toaster We finished out our testing for hard produce with sweet potatoes and again got an admirably average performance. The Big Mouth yielded the amount of juice we got from most juicers in our lineup, with moderate amounts of pulp. For our first recipe — a concoction consisting of beetroots, carrots, apples, celery, cucumbers, and ginger root — the Big Mouth delivered a middle-of-the-road performance.
