Performance is where the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor demonstrates its real value. Most budget juicers handle softer fruits fine, but struggle when put up against tough produce like leafy greens or root vegetables. The Big Mouth started this metric with a solid performance at juicing cucumbers, tying for one of the higher scores. It generated an above-average juice yield, exceeding the average by about 15mL, and produced only mild amounts of foam, though there were moderate amounts of pulp. Performance fell a little when it came to juicing celery, with the Big Mouth only producing an average amount of juice. This juice also had moderate pulp and foam and separated relatively quickly. It is taller and wider than Hamilton Beach, requiring a bit more storage space. At the same time, the juice container is much larger, which is a plus if you do a lot of juicing in one sitting.
But functionality is more important to us, and Hamilton Beach beats Breville in our opinion. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth is the best bet for those shopping for a new juicer on a budget. It does particularly well at juicing wheatgrass and beets, makes tasty juice, and isn’t a huge hassle to clean.
It also benefits from one of the most simple designs, for fast assembly and cleaning. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor repeatedly yields higher volumes of juice than machines which cost more than twice the price. It does this while offering a modern, inoffensive aesthetic and a compact size for easy storage. Yes, it is loud and also not hamilton beach toaster the most stable, but these are minor, short-lived inconveniences; the fast cleaning and impressive yields will be far more noticeable to customers. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor was the loudest of any juicer we tested, hitting a high of 91.3 dB. It was also one of the least stable models, due to its lightweight and compact size.
What I love most is the 2 speeds that allow you to chop up kale and more fibrous vegetables quicker. I also like the juice collection container is larger and features a froth filter on one side, so all the foam strains away from your finished juice. The larger size mouth also allows for whole apples and larger fruits and vegetables so I hamilton beach toaster didn’t have to cut everything into small pieces. It produced about 15mL less juice than the average with little pulp and approximately a half-inch of foam on top. We finished with an essentially average yield of juice, but there was tons of pulp in the drink. The juice also rapidly separated, and there was a lot of foam on the surface.
The Big Mouth does include a cleaning brush, but we didn’t find it to be terribly durable, as it was already starting to lose bristles by the conclusion of our tests. However, the components are safe to clean in the dishwasher, and none had any areas that are a huge pain to wash by hand. I did like the two speed option on the Breville juicer, compared to one-speed-only on Hamilton Beach. The added low-speed on Breville is nice for when you juice soft items such as oranges; I found that the lower speed created less foam.
We looked at each component, noting any problems we found in cleaning them, whether or not they are dishwasher-safe, and include a cleaning brush. Unfortunately, performance dropped considerably when we tried juicing kale in the Big Mouth. Its yield was less than average, but only a minuscule amount of foam was produced.

It has much more power and I’m going to share with you how I keep juice longer in your refrigerator so you don’t have to juice as often. This metric focused on the actual yield when juicing various types of softer food and the quality of the juice generated. I thought the two machines were similar in performance, which surprised me since there was a significant price difference.
