Weber Q1200 vs Q2200: Which One Should You Buy?

You can have a plate for burgers when they are done sitting on one shelf. You can have a stack of cheese slices on the other shelf too. You also shouldn’t sleep on the new Weber Traveler which comes with a collapsible cart and more grilling space the even the Q2200.

In this guide, I will take a look at two of the popular Q-series grills, the Q1200 and the Q2200, and go through the key differences and who they are for. As a 2018 ProductReview Award winner, the Weber Q has been recognised for being a high-quality BBQ series. The Weber Q Series isn’t the current Weber Q Range leader, with the Weber Family Q Series surpassing it in awards, but the series is still a worthwhile investment. Hi Jie, sorry to hear that you’re not having a great experience with your Q so far and we’d love to do some troubleshooting with you as your temperature maximum does sound low. I have used two different Weber thermometers; the 6741 and 6742.

If you dont want to steam your steak with the lid closed then move on because the weber only gets hot enough to cook with the lid closed. So if you want a high heat to sizzle char perfectly your sirloin dont buy one of these or you will be bitterly disappointed. My Push Button Igniter stopped working properly and sent an e-mail to weber about it.. Within a day had a reply and within a week had a new Igniter delivered to my door all free of any costs to me.Fantastic service and product.

Just purchased another Baby Q for our Caravan. If you look at the Q2200 and think you want even more cooking space, the Traveler boasts 320 square inches of cooking space. So, once again – if more portability and a lighter weight are top considerations for you, then the Q1200 would be the way to go. However, if you portable bbq don’t mind the extra bulk and weight of a larger grill, then the Q2200 could be a viable option. It’s a great mid-range grill that’s great for home use but compact enough to take out about in certain circumstances. If you want a lighter grill that’s easier to transport, then the Q1200 might be the better option.

weber q

I had this bbq for 8 years and forwarded it to my cousin as i wanted charcoal only. Must be used with lid down, must check the gas filter ( they get contaminated with mud from bugs, and this stops the bbq from working correctly), otherwise brilliant! Not as hot as some bbq’s because it is designed to be used with the lid down. After a four year run with charcoal only, i want quick results when i need them and gas is it.

If you’re looking for the most portable grill and don’t need as much cooking space, the Q1200 can fit the bill. If you need more cooking space and are willing to deal with a bit more heft, the Q2200 provides nearly 100 more square inches of cooking space. While 13 extra pounds may not seem like a lot on paper, it could feel that way weber q if you have to lug a grill over uneven ground to get to your campsite. By sacrificing the extra cooking space, you gain a lighter grill that’s more suited to travel – and still offers great performance. Doing so is very easy- I like the black colourway- It’s not too heavy or bulky to lift and take with you if you go camping etc.
