Weber Spirit II E-310 Gas Grill

In addition to its decent performance, the Spirit II has a couple of special features — a propane tank scale and an optional integration with the $100 Weber iGrill 3 temperature probe. If the tank scale and iGrill 3 accessory matter to you, the Spirit II might be worth your money. We cooked a grillfull of pre-made one-third pound hamburgers on high with the lid down. They cooked fast at two minutes per side, although the front row needed an additional minute. We’d prefer overall, even heat from the front to the back of the grill, but we appreciated how quickly and easily Spirit II cooked this popular item. The burgers were remarkably juicy, perhaps due to the fast cook time.

If you’re looking for a big grill that has a larger cooking area and more power, consider the Weber Genesis E-325s. Our reader survey revealed high satisfaction with Weber grills’ performance and reliability. Of the 1,000-plus Wirecutter readers we surveyed, over 60% said they owned Weber grills.

Weber Spirit E-310 Gas Grills has three burners with a combined BTU of 30,000 which is right where it needs to be. The unit doesn’t include a side burner, which Blackstone Adventure is unfortunate but not all that uncommon. If you review Weber grills, such as this Spirit Line or the Weber Genesis II, you’ll find similar power output.

For these tests, I turned on burners 1 and 3 and left burner 2 in the middle of the grill off, per the user manual’s suggestion. I placed each chicken on a small piece of foil in the center of the grill, directly over burner two (which, again, was turned off). In terms of grill testing, I cooked ribs on low heat, whole chickens on medium indirect heat, and a bunch of burgers on high.

The left side table on the Spirit II E 210 can be folded down but not the right. That might be important to you if you are looking for the grill with the smallest footprint. By the way…both of these grills have the same “black” color. Something happened when I was making the graphic below that makes the E215 look more grey and washed out. If you buy one of those other grills then you will be frustrated while you use it and will toss it in the trash after two years. If you are standing at Home Depot looking at this grill then they probably have it parked beside a Dyna-Glo, Nexgrill or Kitchen Aid grill.

You just need to turn the ignition knob called the Infinity ignition and the grill will be fired up and ready within minutes. Asides from ease of starting the grill, the ignition char broil performance system also helps with temperature controls. After giving the ribs 10 minutes to rest, we gave ’em a try. They were tender and pretty juicy, but not falling off the bone.
