ECOCOOL Playmate Elite: Feel the Earth Breathe

This cooler recently went through an update which resulted in a more modern appearance and slight improvements to build quality. We also like the mobility thanks to the wheels and extending carrying handle. However, it is a bit limited in how well it cools and the lid can be a little finicky. What’s more, Igloo’s IMX coolers include many more features outdoor and fishing enthusiasts can depend on. That’s about as fantastic of a result as I could have hoped for from the MaxCold, and easily the best cooler performance I was able to find for under $100.

Inside, you’ll find what Igloo describes as 50 quarts of storage space for your food and beverages. The actual number came in just a bit lower when I double-checked it, as I was only able to fill the MaxCold with 46.5 quarts of water before the lid wouldn’t close without overflowing. Still, that’s a decent amount of space for the price, and more than enough to keep plenty of cold beers on hand. This is a large chest that can have a decent cooling ability if you get a well-assembled one. The weak hinges and handles can be a huge headache and we wish that Igloo would have upgraded these items even if it resulted in a small premium on the final product’s price. However, the price is great which makes it still neutral to soft buy in our book.

They utilize multiple manufacturing methods to ensure each line of products best fits the needs of a specific group of users. For example, the largest and toughest Igloo hard-shell coolers are made with traditional rotomolded construction. This allows for the safe use of dry ice for the ultimate in ice retention and cold temperature control without damage to the cooler itself. Other product lines use injection molding for a lower price and lighter weight, making it ideal for campers. Consumers can choose the exact product line that’s right for them based on factors like how long ice will last and the total volume within each ice chest or cooler.

The insulation is made of Ultratherm, Igloo’s proprietary blend of polyurethane foam that has been specially designed to retain a cold temperature, even when it’s rising outside. The Igloo BMX is Igloo’s latest attempt to compete in the premium cooler market. The overall performance and ice retention numbers are good. And despite being more expensive than most Igloo Coolers, it is still more affordable than a lot of its competition from other brands. The Igloo MaxCold scored a lower average temperature during the ice retention test than any other cooler except for Yeti and Orca, which each cost $300.

Yellow construction contains UV stabilizers that prevent fading and cracking to hold up to long periods of sun exposure. Delivering coolness to the world since 1947, Igloo continues to innovate products that keep refreshments cold and make every experience more enjoyable for all. Which is why we couldn’t be igloo cooler with wheels more proud to Stand Up for Mother Nature with Igloo and debut the limited-edition ECOCOOL Playmate Elite Cooler – made from post-consumer recycled materials! We love the mobility of the All-Terrain cooler thanks to its massive wheels. The cooling is good enough and the asking price is very competitive.

It’s even possible to find Igloo coolers that convert from backpacks to wheeled coolers as needed to help you cross any type of terrain. Igloo’s hard-shell coolers are their best-known products. Many people today still use Igloo ice chests manufactured decades ago because they can last that long igloo ice chest with care. This Gripper is a bit larger than some of the other Grippers that Igloo offers and the added storage space are most welcome. And it is still sized in a way that makes it easy to store. Combine that with solid construction and a reasonable asking price, and you have a true contender.

Also, there are many different attractive color options. This is a solid choice for those who don’t want to spend high dollars on a premium cooler. They also know what customers are looking for, particularly regarding what accessories or features they should add to their products.
