Especially in winter., wall tents are perfect and typically accommodate a wood stove so that you can stay warm without wearing oversized puffy jackets. At first, I was resistant to polyester canvas as I always grew up with military cotton canvas tents. However, having slept in many of them and seen them perform over many years, I have realized that they are not very far from cotton canvas tents.

However, after testing multiple types of canvas, we found that this performed worse than 100% cotton or 100% polyester canvas. There aren’t actually too many poly-cotton canvas camping tents out there, so you don’t have to worry and, as always, test them for yourself. In this part of the guide, we share some of the features and specifications we highly recommend you seek to ensure you get the best canvas wall tent for your needs.

I called North Pole (the makers of Ozark Trail tents) not to get much help! Rather than continuing to wait for the company to come up with a soulution and stop questioning me on proper use or abusive weather conditions! I decided that for the $40 I spent on it, (knowing that you get what you pay for) I would sew the gap and seal it really well and get a thicker gage replacement pole for the fly. I just bought the 9’x7′ backpacking tent 2 days ago, because I want to do some bikepacking here in FL. It is easy to set up and take down, and I loved the fact that it has three windows for lots of circulation in the heat and humidity.

And before you guys cop an attitude, I have been camping since I was at least 4 years old and I am now in my mid-50s. You can leave a wall tent made from canvas up all year if you are willing to accept it will have a reduced life span and be willing to maintain it as and when needed. Chemical washes and sprays are straightforward to apply and will ensure your tent remains resistant and functional for many years. However, it is good practice to inspect your tent at least ozark trail canopy once a week and ensure there is no damage, all the pegs are securely in the ground, and the fabric is as taut as it should be. As a rough guide, we recommend you allow around 2.5 feet or 75 cm in width for each person and 6 feet or 182 cm when trying to estimate how many people can fit inside a wall tent. So if it is 10 feet wide and 12 feet long, you can expect to sleep eight people in two rows of 4, or adjust this depending on how much space you want per person.

Otherwise I like the tent but do not trust it to hold up in severe conditions. Choosing the right size wall tent is best done by estimating how many people will be sleeping in it and then matching that to the suggested capacity of each tent. So if you have a family of five and a dog that goes everywhere with you, then a 6-person wall tent should be about right. On the other hand, if you want to use your tent in winter with a stove, you may look closer to an 8-person capacity.

Vinyl Sod Cloth – 10″ vinyl sod cloth is sewn into the base of the walls and doors. This acts as an air seal, allows your canvas to be up off the ground, and prevents water from wicking up the canvas wall. If you’re looking to save money but still want that cabin tent experience, the Ozark Trail 10-Person Two-Room Cabin is tough to beat. If you’re willing to spend a few extra bucks (emphasis on few), the Ozark Trail 9-Person Cabin with a screen room gives some added livability at a similar price point.

The durable steel frame has extra guy line support to withstand wind and snow. With that being said, Ozark Trail does a good job of seam-sealing their tents from the factory in most cases, and with a little help, these budget-shelters can keep you dry when unexpected rain hits. Take time to treat the entire tent with a DWR coating like Nikwax (not just the rainfly) and never leave the house without a tent repair kit in case disaster strikes. Shape wise most Ozark Trail tents either come in a cabin or dome shape. Cabin tents typically have more room inside to stretch out thanks to their high ceilings and vertical walls, so most Ozark Trail shoppers will likely want to focus on cabin tents.

We must have had some wind but not tornado force/ hurricane force winds. I just wish who I need to contact to get a new tent shell and two end poles that are made of sturdy material would contact me and make good of it. Every single one of our camping experiences has been ruined because of the OZARK tent. I would like a response to this please and I do expect some compensation of some kind! Every time we put some faith in these tents we got let down.

There was a breeze so I put bricks around the edge, and the rain tarp didn’t cover the whole of the window like it was supposed to, but that was it was a little hard to set up so it was understandable. It worked well that night and I got some rain in but nothing serious. Now a few years later I erected it in the backyard just for fun. It is an Ozark Trail Dome Tent that is a 4-person tent.
