An uncomfortable saddle is one of the most consistent issues that Mongoose XR250 users experience.
By modern standards, the XR250 falls under the category of a heavy mountain bike. They may be rare, but you can find a Mongoose XR250 mountain bike in decent condition. These bikes are typically under the ownership of cyclists that perform regular maintenance and don’t engage in excessive amounts of riding. The Mongoose XR3250 first came out in 2010, and it’s nearly been a decade since its release. However, the Mongoose mountain bicycle still generates a fair amount of buzz even today.
Mongoose has consistently, for over a decade at least, from my experience, led the way in delivering high quality at a fraction of the price of their competition. I once worked on a Raleigh Laser bike that came back to the store two weeks later because the frame had ripped apart. Some of the welds had only surface penetration, and the quality control missed it.
Intermediate or advanced mountain bikers will feel under-biked when riding rougher trails. It uses a dual disc brake setup, but we found that it just doesn’t stop as sharply. But considering that it’s a fat tire bike that weighs about 48 lbs, we can ignore this issue.
Tough trails or gravel roads this bike can go through any conditions such as snow, sand, or dirt. So, buy this smooth malus mountain bike of Mongoose to enjoy off-road biking. Another cool bike edition from the Mongoose is the Mongoose status mountain bike.
Just make sure that you buy a Mongoose XR250 that’s in decent condition. If it’s not working properly, then you’re going to have to spend a significant amount on Mongoose XR250 upgrades. However, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll find a new unassembled Mongoose XR250 on the market. If you do buy a secondhand Mongoose XR250, it’s still important to pay some attention to the assembly. If there are a few cracks and the paint’s chipping off, then those are things that you can quickly repair.
While it may not do much if you hit a big pothole, it definitely does the job when hitting your standard bumps from riding around town. The Mongoose Deception also has 21 speeds, and the whole derailer/shifter system works great – however I did make sure to tune it up myself before riding it. You should either learn to do it yourself, or spend an additional $15 or so at your local mongoose mountain bike bike shop to make sure it’s tweaked perfectly. I really like the colors on it, as the green really stands out against the white, and the design aesthetics are quite nice. It really feels nice and sleek – more so than some of the really high end bikes I’ve seen. Something else that stood out to me (since I come from a machinist background) was the quality of the welds on the frame.
Mongoose has three more steel-framed 26″ mountain bikes, each with 4″ knobbly tires, 7-speed gearing, and mechanical disc brakes. These bikes perform well as sturdy beginner fat bikes and are priced similarly. Mongoose’s Salvo is the most advanced model in the lineup, with three different builds.
For riding on the hilly trails the hardtail bikes are best and on rocky terrains, full suspension is best. Also, full-suspension bikes are easy to handle and offer good stability which a hardtail bike can’t. So, to avoid these occasions and ride swiftly you’ll need a quality wheel with good grip tires. Generally, MTB with big wheels are suitable for these situations also gives good flexibility. Riders can easily change the gears with the twist shifters and Shimano derailleur. In addition, bikers get extra support from the alloy wheels at the front that releases quickly.
These handlebars perform better under duress, so if you were to ever crash they will not disappoint. Even though they weigh more, they cost less than the carbon handlebar counterparts. The Mongoose brand is owned by Pacific Cycles which also owns popular brands Schwinn and GT. Pacific Cycles is part of a larger conglomerate named Dorel Sports, which manages brands like Cannondale and Charge Bikes.
