Instant Vortex Air Fryer Review

GearLab is founded on the principle of honest, objective, reviews. Our experts test thousands of products each year using thoughtful test plans that bring out key performance differences between competing products. And, to assure complete independence, we buy all the products we test ourselves.

In theory the replacement filters can be bought directly at Instant Brands’ site, but they are not yet available for purchase. The brand reports that they’ll be in stock soon, but the air fryer does come with two filters included. This is encouraging, because you can find many replacements and added parts for a number of the best Instant Pots on this same site. Designed with families in mind, the instant vortex cranks out 4 to 6 servings in one cooking cycle. Its large footprint makes it best for people with a decent amount of real estate on their kitchen counter.

There are a few things you lose by opting for this model, though. It doesn’t have a dehydrate setting, there’s no progress or text bar (instead, a small seven-segment screen displays the time, temperature, and cooking stage), and there’s no window nor a light. In terms of performance, it offers the same high-quality build and fantastic results – and I’ll happily take that in a smaller size over a progress bar. Also missing are a few of Instant Vortex’s more premium features, such as OdorErase and ClearCook; but for the Slim’s price and convenience, this isn’t the end of the world.

It also scored highly for breaded chicken as well, needing just 13 minutes to cook this after preheating. However, it somewhat struggled for air frying chicken wings. One of the key elements of this model is that it features a replaceable OdorErase filter, which is designed to reduce lingering cooking smells in the kitchen.

Once we realised it needed to be turned 90 degrees, this was easy enough. Another thing which pleasantly surprised us was the noise level, which was very low for an air fryer. We recorded 64dB, which is quite low for ambient noise, and far lower than the other air fryers we were testing. We were somewhat surprised to find that it actually does. Even odor-heavy foods such as bacon were not detectible in the air around the air fryer.

This actually comes in use, because if your food isn’t ready once time is up and you want to air fry it for a few more minutes, it will automatically revert to preheating again. Bacon cooked on air fry was one of my favorite results in testing. instant vortex It was crispy and the design of the slotted baking tray allows grease to drip through to a foil-lined crumb tray below, making cleanup nice and easy. Set the mode and temperature, and the display reads ON while preheating the oven.
