Razor E100 Electric Scooter Review Fun But Flawed

The only immediate giveaway that this isn’t the same as the scooter gathering dust in your parent’s attic is that the wheels look much larger. The shiny aluminum deck, colorful wheels, minimalist foot brake, and folding stem all harken back to the scooting days of yesteryear. Please allow 3-10 business days for your order to arrive.

It’s designed for kids to ride easily and safely, too, with hand breaks, a motor that maxes out at a speedy but not wild 10 miles per hour, and acceleration via twist grips at the handles. (Notably, twisting the grips also turns on LED lights on the deck.) It’ll hold kids ages 8 and up with a weight limit of 120 pounds. And here I am, three weeks later, telling you I’ve changed my mind. Razor’s E Prime III is a reliable, cheap(er) electric scooter option if you’re not 2 Fast 2 Furious and don’t have to go more than about 7 miles away.

In fact, you may find yourself using the rear foot brake for more gentle stops, since the motor braking comes on quite strong. This scooter has a 250-watt electric motor that propels it at speeds as fast as 15 mph. The seat post and cushion are removable so you can transition to a ride-on scooter. The handlebar and headtube fold for carriage when a quick release latch is opened. The real comparison should be between the various electric scooters we’ve tested over the past few years.

The Icon’s front headlight is mounted pretty low to the ground — just above the front wheel — so it provides some, but not great, visibility in darker conditions. I did like the rear brake lights, which are nicely integrated into the rear of the Icon’s frame. A small red LED display on the right handlebar shows your speed and battery life, and it has two buttons to turn the scooter on and off, and to activate its head and tail lights. Among the best electric scooters, it’s definitely a standout compared to its peers.

Razor has experimented with the tyres with mixed results. In the case of E90, the urethane front tyre has no shock absorption ability, which severely affects its performance on non-flat surfaces. The E90 has a push-button acceleration and the scooter can be stopped with the help of a hand-operated front brake. The 20-year-old company began with push scooters, but nowadays they are best known for the foldable electric scooters.

Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. If you’re less than the maximum load capacity, then give it a try. But a more important difference is the shock absorption and general performance of the scooters on not not-so-perfect surface. The front pneumatic tyre in both the E100 and E200 ensures good shock reduction. On an unpaved road, the rider will soon notice the E90’s lack of shock absorption. So, for their safety and to prevent accidental takeoffs, the makers have opted for the kick-start function. Maybe it just feels so strong because the scooter is quite light (26.5 pounds!) and so you expect it to be a weak little thing.

With a top speed of 15 MPH and an air-filled 8″ front tire, you’re in for a comfortable and fun ride. Download the Razor Share app, scan your driver’s license and get started riding. It’s just $1 to unlock and 33 to 37 cents per minute to ride. Scooter features razor hoverboards include headlights and brake lights, an oversized and spacious deck, an anti-slip surface, a rear disk brake and thumb throttle. A lot of the cheaper electric scooters in the E Prime III’s price range ($425) are either heavier or max out at top speeds of MPH.

The chain-driven wheel is powered by a high torque 100-watt motor that provides up to 40 minutes of continuous use at speeds up to 10 mph. The Razor E100 is a pretty sweet, smooth ride for younger kids that are jumping at the chance to ride an electric scooter. With a front air tire, it rolls more smoothly than the E90 which has a polyurethane front wheel, but not as smooth as the E200 which has a front and rear air tire. We do love the added safety of the kick-start motor that requires a child to push off and be moving at 3 mph before the motor kicks in. The Razor E200 electric scooter has all the features that parents want and everything that kids crave in a scooter. The all-steel frame and fork make this ride strong and durable to the point that your child will probably outgrow this scooter before it has any structural problems.

It’s not ugly or embarrassing looking — in fact, the olive green body is a nice touch. And it’s got the safe, secure feeling of a bike with the compactness of a kick scooter. The 8-inch pneumatic front tire is a good shock absorber, and the tire is big enough that I know it can make it over larger cracks in the road. Minor bumps did not interfere with my grip on the handlebars. These razor electric scooters are built for kids, so the makers expect rough use from the riders. Keeping this in mind, the manufacturers have invested in creating a sturdy steel frame body.
