Bissell ICONpet Cordless Vacuum Review

With that being said, this vacuum is seriously convenient for more than just floors. Leftover popcorn from movie night found its way into the couch? If you’re like me and appreciate versatility, consider the ICONpet your new must-have – you can use this gadget on more than just floors. It’s also worth noting that Bissell started the Bissell Pet Foundation to assist animal welfare organizations.

25 minutes of uninterrupted run time enables you to simultaneously vacuum, wash and dry multiple rooms and floor types in the average sized house. Jodhaira Rodriguez has been testing vacuums and other floor-cleaning appliances in the Good Housekeeping Home Appliances and Cleaning Products Lab since 2021. During recent testing for the 2022 Cleaning Awards, she assisted Carolyn Forté, Executive Director of the Cleaning Lab, in testing 24 of the newest robots, stick, canister and upright vacuums on the market. For decades, the Good Housekeeping Institute has been providing expert reviews and advice on a wide variety of cleaning products, from self-emptying robot vacuums to stain removers.

Another nice feature is that you can change the length of the stick by taking off the main section, essentially turning it into a hand vac. You see, about a year ago we moved into a rental home when my husband took a job 3.5 hours away from our hometown. This home features linoleum and carpet and I wanted something that could easily vacuum both without much of a hassle. The width of the test bed is proportional to the vacuum’s nozzle width, which we measure ourselves. We also use nozzle width, plus the flooring type, to calculate the soil density for each test, per International Electrotechnical Commission guidelines. The IEC is a global standards body responsible for managing testing procedures, among other things, for vacuum manufacturers.

For a home with multiple types of flooring, I’ve gotta say, this vacuum cleaner has been great! You can go from carpet to hard flooring and back and forth without batting an eye. You don’t even have to change any settings or attachments (although you can if desired, more on that later). Meanwhile, the Tineco Pure One S11 is the only cordless vacuum in the top 5 of our sand tests that retails for less than $500.

This corded upright has a tangle-free brush roll and a hair spooling system in the dust cup that makes pet (and human) hair pickup — and the inevitable cleaning of the vacuum after — a breeze. It comes with three attachments, and two are specifically for tackling more pet hair messes. The sealed filtration system keeps allergens trapped inside the vacuum, which means less sniffling and sneezing. Our experts appreciate that the dust cup can be removed with the push of one button, and Febreze odor technology in the filter prevents pet odors from building in the device. It also automatically adjusts the height of the brush roll to go from carpets to bare floors and area rugs seamlessly.

As you move towards the higher-end Bissell vacuums, you may want to weigh your options against companies like Dyson or Miele to make sure you’re getting the most for your money. But if you’re looking for a reliable vacuum at an affordable bissell cordless vacuum price point, Bissell is the perfect option for you. As the name indicates, pet hair is where the ICONPet Pro shines. It’s specifically designed to pick up pet hair and keep it inside the vacuum with their SmartSeal Allergen System.

All of these vacuums have been thoroughly vetted, with more than 150 tests for safety, reliability, performance, and durability on each model before it’s made available to purchase. These test results are backed up by a limited warranty that can range from 90 days to lifetime, depending on the model. Most of the vacuums on our list feature a runtime of 40 minutes before needing another charge, though a growing number of models are starting to offer higher-capacity batteries with runtimes of 60 minutes per charge. In truth, it’s a rare occasion that one would need more than 40 minutes of runtime for a single vacuuming session, and the prevalence of charging docks makes it easy to recharge in between cleaning runs.

The foundation aims to help reduce the number of animals in shelters and rescues by finding them homes via grants, adoption events, a spay and neuter program, and more. You can lean it against a corner wall and it will stay up that way. We do that fairly often here if we aren’t finished vacuuming but just need to move an item out of the way. Otherwise, if the job is done, its inability to stand on its own is a good reminder for my kids to put it away and plug it in to start recharging. The attachments are all very sturdy, well made, and don’t appear likely to break.

You also don’t have to change bags, though the dust bin is smaller than some other models’. Less convenient is the fairly short cord, which you’ll likely have to unplug and move between outlets if you’re working with a larger space. But the three-in-one design means you can restructure it to work as a full-height floor vacuum, hand vacuum with crevice tool, or stair vacuum (the hand vac setup, but with a floor nozzle rather than crevice tool).

Eureka and BISSELL vacuums occupy a similar budget-friendly niche, and offerings from each brand tend to have strengths. When comparing like-for-like models, BISSELLs usually have a wider array of convenience features, while Eurekas offer superior debris pickup performance. Dyson vacuums tend to occupy a much higher price point than BISSELL’s offerings, which is reflected in generally superior performance and better build quality. That said, BISSELL’s selection of corded models is far more extensive than what Dyson offers. Tangle-free brush
Pet hair is one thing, but long (human) hair is a whole new ballgame. Bissell’s patented Tangle-Free Brush Roll is amazing and prevents hair from wrapping around the brush.
