Thus, forget about Igloo, Magellan and Coleman because Ozark Trail soft-sided coolers are dope. Similar to major brands, Ozark Trail also features two separate lines of products that are clearly distinct in quality as well as price. Igloo is a brand that has been around forever, and the Igloo Maxcold follows true to old-school examples.
If you’re going to create a top tier cooler, it obviously has to be rotomolded. If you want your cooler to be both tough and durable, you can’t skimp on this one aspect of design. There’s a tick on that little detail on Ozark’s part because their coolers are, in fact, rotomolded. Similar to the Ozark Trail cooler, the Pelican features orange wheel rims and also has orange clasp accents. You can get this cooler in three colors, Tan which is featured here, as well as graphite and white. The other two colors will have different rims and accents, so if you don’t love the orange you have options.
We are looking into this problem in more detail and may adjust this review accordingly once we get to the bottom of it. Ozark Trail is one of the most common brands we have been asked about as a potential “Yeti replacement”. We must admit that the huge price cut and supposed similar ice retention and features are tempting.
They make really great coolers that I feel confident recommending. Both coolers are sold primarily through Walmart and can be purchased in store (if stock is available) or can be purchased online through Walmart.com. I’ve also done a full write up on the problems with Ozark Trail coolers but I will highlight some of the key issues here also. With the Ozark Trail they have reversible non-slip/slide feet. You need to manually unscrew the feet, turn them over and screw them back in. So it’s not something you can change quickly, but you do get to decide what type of feet you want.
What I found most fascinating about this test is that the water in the YETI stayed cold for three additional days after the ice melted. The water was cold enough that had the gallon ozark trail tent jugs been milk, we would have been able to drink out of them for three days after the ice melted. All-in-all, the YETI lasted for five days and the Coleman for one day.
Cover much more space is the 36 can premium model that is a much better option for picnics and small gatherings. Indeed, this cooler is definitely large, measuring 18 x 10 x 14 inches & weighing a total of 2.9 pounds straight out of the box. If your budget is slightly expendable and would rather buy a cooler that you would not regret later on then you’re better off with a premium Ozark Trail cooler.
While this brand might not compare to something as legendary as a Orion, Pelican, RTIC…, it is still impressive how it successfully took over the budget cooler realm. It’s way colder than regular ice and excels at keeping ice cream and meat frozen. We tested how long each cooler could maintain a temperature by filling each cooler, regardless of size, halfway up with ice.
The Duracoat coating, the MagSlider lid, and the weight of just 11 ounces all make using Yeti Rambler 20 oz effortless. What is more, this product is also surprisingly easy to clean – even though it’s dishwasher-safe, I just rinse it out by hand. I will say there are a few minor issues with this cooler though.
Then, we emptied each model of water to look into the design and features. Finally, we filled each cooler with soda cans to see how many cans they could hold, compared to their stated capacity. We are impressed with the lineup of features you get to enjoy here.
For a completely customized wrap or pad, use our Custom Form here. Because of this, their coolers are certified bear-resistant by the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC) and join the club of other well known, bear-proof coolers. That means you don’t have to worry about a grizzly bear gaining access to your cooler contents. It might seem a little ozark trail chair disappointing that there are only 3 sizes to go on, but at least they went for the most common sizes used by people. Basically, you have a small cooler, you have a medium cooler, and you also have a fairly large cooler. Now, the general assumption here is that this cooler brand is actually owned by Walmart since they’re mostly sold at their stores.
