It is made with a steel construction frame and polyester material for the canopy, which is in line with just about every shade tent on the market today. The Ozark Trail Commercial Canopy is packed with the features that you need. The frame is powder coated aluminum and steel with push button locking on the frame and height adjustments. The heavy 400D polyester top provides 99% UV protection and is water and fire resistant.
Perfect for tailgating, ball games, backyard barbecues and more. Even though it technically can, we think you should have a second person there to ozark trail canopy help out with the set up. Since this model is quite tall, you may even need a small foot ladder, so having someone there will keep things safe.
The Ozark Trail tent I purchased is model HKD 08055R. I have a design change suggestion but I do not see an email address anywhere; therefore I cannot submit it to someone who can do something about it. Thank you OZARK for making camping nights with small children just a little more difficult!!!! Good thing we are all troopers and we didn’t let your HORRIBLE product ruin our trip. Rain fly is too big — it needs one side cut differently to allow to get in and out of the tent.
It was a little challenging putting it up the first time but still took about 10 minutes. The frame seems very sturdy and the top is a decent thickness. Bought to use the 4-person connected and figured it’d be better to do a 10’x20′ canopy instead of 2 10’x10′ canopies. The height of the inside leaves you in awe of the amount of room that’s under the roof. My son is 6’2″ and standing on his tippy toes can barely touch the center of the frame at the lowest height.
From a positive perspective, the lightweight design increases portability which is certainly important in carrying the tent to its intended location. From a negative perspective, the weight is indicative of a lack of high quality material and components used throughout the shelter. The included carrying bag does not have wheels to aid in transportation, but at only 29 lbs. We don’t find that to be a noteworthy drawback as the nylon handles and shoulder strap work just fine in carrying the tent. The legs are locked into place with old school metal push button locks, something you won’t see on many modern pop up tents now-a-days. These push locks get very difficult to use over time, especially if the tent is used on the beach and exposed to sand and saltwater, causing rust build up.
Unless otherwise specified, all items are offered and sold “AS IS, WHERE IS” with all faults. We encourage you to come to the preview to see and inspect the items. The Dutch Goat Trading Company does allow for returns on some items.
Regarding capacity, each of the tents can accommodate 4 sleeping pads. But for real camping I see it as a system for up to 5 users, ideal for parents with 2-3 kids, and also for two couples. The pictures below show the most important steps when you want to pitch this structure, the meaning of the steps will become more clear in the text below. You realize that the fly is pre-attached to the frame and you raise them instantly. This is currently completely unique system on the market. It can be described as an semi-instant system because the roof/fly is with a pre-attached frame, and the remaining elements are then attached to it separately.
Your zippers are the worst in all camping gears I have bought. It comes loose easily enough but over time this has put lots of little holes in that flap. I have the JW-7607 which is a 2-3 (read that as two) person tent. I have had it for years and am thrilled with it. It has held up to kids camping in the living room and back yard, many camping trips to desert / forest / lake environments and even survived a bear “attack” with only a small tear.
In this setup you have a 4-person tent plus a screened area in front of it. This is a very useful option and I have included it in my list of family camping tents with a screen porch. Ozark Trail is a private brand owned and operated by Walmart. If you look for an Ozark Trail canopy website, you’ll be redirected to Walmart’s website.
We have never been able to sleep in it and makes a poor storage room. I am 67 yrs old and have used Ozark Trail tents for years, but this covered screen dome turned out NOT TO BE A TENT. I would not even think of unloading it on my worst enemy. I purchased this tent to take to music festivals and such, because it is like a small house. However, for its second trip it just fell apart. One day into a 3-day festival, I returned to camp to find both of the large poles snapped right in two.
