Best Robotic Vacuums of 2023

The company spun off its defense robotics division in 2016 to become almost exclusively a seller of vacuums and some other home robots, such as the Braava robotic mop. It planned to launch a robotic lawn mower in 2020 but backed off, citing problems tied to the pandemic. It’s not compatible with boundary strips, so it’s best to set it off when you’re in to monitor its path.

However, with 40x the suction power of a standard Roomba, the s9+ does a great job cleaning up pet hair. Unfortunately, there isn’t a standard power scale that all robo-vacs adhere to, so it’s difficult to compare among a bunch of devices. Some companies provide Pascal (Pa) levels and generally the higher the Pa, the stronger the vacuum cleaner shark cordless will be. But other companies don’t rely on Pa and simply say their robots have X-times more suction than other robots. A brash, loud auto-emptying robot vacuum that’s long on features and short on style but comes at a real bargain. But don’t be fooled by the AI in the name — it can only avoid objects if they’re over four inches tall.

In our testing, we found that laser mapping was slightly more effective overall (the j7+ needs good lighting to navigate), but the ability to review pictures of obstacles in the app is pretty nifty. And for pet owners, the j7+ can proactively identify pet waste to avoid vacuuming over dog poo and making a bad situation so much worse. IRobot will even replace your Roomba if it fails to avoid pet waste, a common issue with robot vacuums, irobot vacuum cleaner which seem unable to identify pet poop and tend to run right through it. At 0.6 liters, this Roomba doesn’t have a particularly large canister, so it’s better suited for smaller homes or quick cleanup jobs. It also doesn’t have extra fancy features like object avoidance or a self-emptying canister. However, for the price, it’s an excellent pick for anyone who craves the convenience of a robot vacuum without the hefty price tag.

And with up to 200 minutes of battery life, it can tackle your whole house without a recharge. The Roomba s9+ promises to have 40 times the suction power of the 600 series, irobot vacuum cleaner which makes it the strongest robot vacuum with the most powerful suction. That means even dug-in dirt, tangled pet hair, and ultra-fine dust will get sucked up.

IRobot said it had consent to collect this kind of data from inside homes—but participants say otherwise. The most intimate image we saw was the series of video stills featuring the young woman on the toilet, her face blocked in the lead image but unobscured in the grainy scroll of shots below. In another image, a boy who appears to be eight or nine years old, and whose face is clearly visible, is sprawled on his stomach across a hallway floor. A triangular flop of hair spills across his forehead as he stares, with apparent amusement, at the object recording him from just below eye level. Keep in mind that manufacturers typically cover their robots with one-year limited warranties that include parts and labor.

Of the three, we’ve tested only the AI+, and we wouldn’t recommend it based on its cleaning abilities. We’re confident that the Shark model and the lower-end Samsung bot will work similarly to all the other laser-nav robots described in the previous few paragraphs. Their “everyday” prices are a bit high, but we’ve seen some pretty good deals on the version of the Shark that comes with a self-emptying dock. Since we know that laser-nav bots are all fairly similar to one another, this Shark model could be a good choice if you see it on sale. As for cleaning, we’ve found over and over again that basic Eufy bots are capable of picking up all the most common types of debris off bare floors and low-pile rugs. It’s actually kind of surprising how effective they are, since the advertised suction is so modest, and the single brush roll is small.
