Ozark Trail 5-in-1 Convertible Instant Tent and Shelter Review

Other advantages are how simple the tents are to set up and the variety of selections available. A camper can buy anything from a single tent to a family-size version at a reasonable price point. I watched the setup video tutorial and took the tent out of the original packaging before timing my setup. Spacious, convenient, ventilated, ozark trail wall tent and priced great for its size! You cannot use a USB power bank to power the lights (it’s labeled that it’s not compatible) tried it out and didn’t work, it takes four D batteries. You want to make sure that the treatment you’re using is compatible with the materials your tent is made of, but that’s more important for the seams.

First, Ozark Trail uses sealed seams on this tent, but the fabric itself isn’t made for a rainstorm. You’ll want to give the entire tent a thorough Nikwax treatment before taking it on the road. Second, the fabric feels thin, and a few users have reported ripping it during setup, so you’ll need to take your time both setting up and taking down this tent. Without the fly, the Mineral King 3 has a full mesh dome with a waterproof, tape-seamed bathtub-style polyester floor. The tent doors are nearly wall-sized, and when they’re unzipped, you simply stuff them into pockets, rather than having to roll and toggle-tie the fabric.

Two large vestibules add nearly 40 square feet combined—that is, 18.75 square feet on either side—of potentially protected ground space. That gives you a lot of room to maneuver both inside and around the tent. One night during testing, for example, clouds loomed in the distance with clear skies overhead. After we pitched the tent, the Mineral King 3’s adaptable fly let us arrange an open mesh half-dome for easy viewing of the stars.

We don’t recommend the smaller version of this tent for couples who might actually take it on the road; it was just too flimsy in our tests. Also note that this tent does not come with its ozark trail tents own groundsheet. If you’re planning a huge family gathering and want plenty of space for relatives, kids, pets, and all the necessary gear, this L-shaped tent may be just what you need.

Setup isn’t exactly “instant”—you’ll spend minutes pitching the huge tent—but the process is straightforward and you’ll never struggle with the pin-and-ring frame attachment system. It is a 3-Season tent, but it’s at its most comfortable during the warmer spring and autumn months. You’ve got all the interior space you need, too—up to four queen beds can fit, and the tent can be divided into three separate rooms. Thanks to the four built-in interior pockets and ample floor space, you’ll never have trouble keeping your gear organized. The tent is treated with a 1200mm waterproof coating, and the frame is wind-resistant up to 40 km/h winds.
