I don’t know that I would recommend it for a beginner who doesn’t know his way around a tent. Again, I AM a soldier with nearly 30 years experience in putting tents together. Generally speaking, if you go into buying an Ozark Trail tent with reasonable expectations, you won’t be disappointed. None of these tents are designed to hold up in a serious thunderstorm. Despite what you may have read, you can absolutely enjoy an outdoors experience in an Ozark Trail tent.
